Tsunami hits during a concert in Indonesia, “Seventeen” band members killed

A disastrous tsunami hits the coastal regions of Sumatra and Java in Indonesia on Saturday, December 22, 2018.

Experts believes that the cause of the deadly waves are the volcanic activities of the Anak Krakatau volcano, located at the Sunda Strait in the Indonesian province of Lampung. An underwater landslide occurred while the volcano is erupting.

Different footage of the tragedy makes rounds in social media, including the moment when the rock band, Seventeen got washed away while performing on stage.

According to reports, two members of the group and two of their staff were among the people killed. Authorities fears the the number of victims might rise as the continue with the search and rescue operations.

 

Another possible tsunami waves

The National Disaster Management Agency warns the people about another possible effect of the ongoing eruption of the volcano.

Recommendations from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysical Agency are that people should not carry out activities on the beach and stay away from the coast for a while
