Air versus water, in a rare battle between a seagull and an octopus, who do you think will win?

According to Wikipedia,

Seagulls are typically medium to large birds, usually grey or white, often with black markings on the head or wings. They typically have harsh wailing or squawking calls, stout, longish bills, and webbed feet.

On the other hand, an octopus “is a cephalopod mollusk of the order Octopoda. It has two eyes and four pairs of arms, usually bearing suction cups.”

Most seagulls are carnivores, preying on crabs and small fish while octopus eat mainly crabs, polychaete worms, and other molluscs such as whelks and clams. However, seabirds have also been documented as prey for octopuses.

In a video taken in New South Wales, Australia, an octopus wraps its tentacles around a seagull and proceeds drowning it by dragging its head under the water. You can see the seagull struggle, flapping its wings in hopes to maybe break free. However, the seagull eventually drowned and became the octopus’ prey.

You can hear children and their parents talking in the background in the video. Well, the parents then have some explaining to do on how the circle of life goes.
